First day of school

Well, we made it through the first day of school with no problems, but Marty & I did visit the principal’s office today. We did not have the greatest meet and greet with Bryanna’s new teacher last night, so we decided to let Mrs. Leeper know our concerns, BEFORE there was a problem.

One of the first things the new teacher mentioned when we met her was the she had heard she might have problems with Bryanna. Then later, Bryanna was looking around her new classroom and the teacher made the comment that "I can see we’re going to have problems." Now I’m not saying that she doesn’t get herself into trouble, but is it too much to ask that she gets to start each year with a clean slate?! (I won’t get into the comments made about meds in reference to her behavioral problems - I mean she’s 6, WTF?!)

Anyway, we decided to get it out in the open with the principal now, so it wouldn’t look like we were being defensive when, not if, she gets in trouble later. But we had a pretty good summer at the daycare, so maybe this year will go better - keep your fingers crossed and your prayers for Miss Thang’s behind coming.

After school we watched a friend of Bryanna’s, Rachel, for her dad. They decided to entertain themselves, and us, by dressing up and posing for pictures.

  1. what do you mean about coments about meds?
did her teacher say anything, or make comments? what did she say?
lets hope she is a better teacher than she has personality!!it looks like because there is nothing wrong with Bryanna she has just got an active mind and needs to be kept busy. Love Nini

  2. Bonni,

Talk to your principal about putting Bryanna in a different teacher's class if one is available. I did this with Chloe one year and was very glad I did. It seems this teacher follows idle gossip. What did the principal have to say. It is so not fair to the child to be pegged without even getting to know her. Maybe this teacher needs to find a different profession!

  3. Good for you for talking to the principal. That teacher was out of line. Hopefully things go better for the rest of the year. Good luck!
